Restorative Practice (RP) Immersion Day

At Carr Manor Community School, we  believe that the best way to understand how relational and restorative practice works is to experience it. Our RP Immersion Days offer you the opportunity to see first-hand the positive impact of putting relationships first in a school context. The day will explore our approaches to:

• Leadership and management
• Inclusion, pupil behaviour and working with families
• Coaching and building relationships
• Safeguarding
• Classrooms and corridors.

During the day you will:

• Hear from children how the ethos and culture of the organisation supports their learning and wider development
• Hear from staff what it ‘feels’ like to work in a high challenge/high support, restorative environment
• Hear from experienced senior leaders about the principles and practices that create an inclusive culture for all
• Experience our unique pastoral structure and see first-hand the positive impact this approach can have on creating the right culture for relationships to be created, maintained and repaired
• Learn how whole school approaches underpin our inclusion and safeguarding work
• Learn how the language in the used in the classroom facilitates high expectations of the pupils and maximises their progress.

By the end of the day you will:

• Know how restorative practice has positively impacted on the key performance indicators (attendance, exclusions, pupil outcomes, Ofsted, NEET etc)
• Be able to list examples of how restorative practice can support working with children, families and staff
• Leave with ideas on how restorative practice can work in your organisation and have an opportunity to talk about your next steps for development.
